We are rooted in the heart of South Kivu, Democratic Republic of Congo, in the rural territory of Kabare. From here, we walk alongside women and youth whose lives have been shaped by conflict, inequality, and resilience.

Our Mission

We are committed to improving the lives of women and youth, empowering them to become drivers of positive societal change. We do this by providing access to vocational training, agricultural development, small business creation, formal and informal education, and health initiatives, while also fostering peaceful conflict resolution and gender equity. We strive to ensure that every woman and young person we work with gains not just skills, but also confidence, financial independence, and a voice in shaping the future of their communities.

About the Foundation

Fondation Medan Nyantende (FMN) was officially founded on 23 December 2024.

As an ASBL (Association Sans But Lucratif) entity, we are a registered non-profit organization recognized by the Ministry of Justice and Keeper of the Seals of the Democratic Republic of Congo. We are registered by Ministerial Decree No. 252/CAB/ME/MIN/J&GS/2024 of 23 December 2024, with notification from the same Ministry on 27 June 2025, and publication in the official government newspaper.

Our headquarters are located in Mumosho Groupement, Bel Air Site, Kabare Territory, South Kivu Province, in the Democratic Republic of Congo – one of the regions most deeply affected by poverty, insecurity, and limited access to education and healthcare.

FDN operates primarily in South Kivu’s rural communities, where decades of conflict have eroded essential services and economic opportunities.

We are rooted in Kabare Territory but aim to grow across the DRC where the need is greatest. In areas like ours, women face economic exclusion, youth are vulnerable to unemployment and violence, and families struggle for basic education and healthcare. We believe that real, sustainable change must be community-led, through empowerment, opportunity, and solidarity.
